“Actions are thoughts and words brought to reality” - Harmful thinking, speaking, or acting will always do damage.
Non-violence means “no harm”. This is in thought, word, or action. It is important to emphasize that the goal of the Vedas was not to impose any rules on its readers but to elevate the reader to a more peaceful and pleasant life. These ancient authors knew that harmful behavior will always lead to misery for oneself or others. Thus, understanding “Ahimsa”, is an important aspect for a great and prosperous life.

MENTAL EXERCISE:
Imagine violence and anger as a sound/frequency that is loud, distorted, and has so much noise in it, that it destroys any harmony it encounters. No matter if you think about it, speak it out loud, or act by it - The noise sticks and will do damage.
If we hold a grudge towards someone, it will cause self-harm and ultimately will also harm those around us. If we speak negatively towards a person, we directly hurt this person as well, as everyone who must listen to us. We program ourselves in a more negative way, carrying the traces from it for a long time. Anger should be analyzed, and its source communicated until a solution has been created. Anger outbursts have seldom constructive outcomes; they will always lead to grief.
Non-violence also applies to physical harm which should not need any explanation as well as harm to any other life form. We won’t get into the merits of a “harm-free” diet at this point but there might come a point where you will realize that meat consumption might have many negative influences on our entire system.
